Women’s Health Physiotherapy
If you are suffering with women’s health issues from pregnancy through to menopause then a treatment from Charlie who provides Women’s Health Physiotherapy just outside Taunton is just the answer to help you return to the life you love.
- 1 in 3 women experience urinary incontinence during their lifetime.
- Up to 50% of women who have had children experience pelvic organ/vaginal prolapse.
- Up to 60% of women who have not had children experience significant bladder/bowel or pain symptoms.
- Approximately 20% of women aged 18-50 experience chronic pelvic pain.
- All women will go through menopause at some point.
Sadly, many women tolerate these issues, believing they are a normal part of being a woman. A recent study in the Lancet estimated over 40 million women a year will suffer long term health implications from childbirth. Embarrassment often prevents them from seeking help, and many are unaware that effective treatments are available. Working with a physiotherapist and sticking to your program can be highly beneficial—pelvic floor muscle physiotherapy helps over 70% of women cure or improve symptoms of weak pelvic floor muscles.

After pregnancy, many women have concerns about aches or pains and how to safely return to sport without risking their pelvic floor. Charlie offer postnatal body checks, including postural, abdominal, and pelvic floor assessments, to help restore confidence in your body post-childbirth.
Physiotherapy can also alleviate many menopause side effects, such as physical aches and pains, vaginal symptoms, and pelvic floor muscle issues.
